ChamberWest introduces East Valley Chamber of Commerce

paradigm shift   — n a radical change in underlying beliefs or theory

Once upon a time, one basic theory had the sun revolving around the earth.  An astronomer named Nicolaus Copernicus changed that theory with a paradigm shift, a change in basic  assumptions.  Placing the sun at the center of the universe (Heliocentric Model), demonstrated that the observed motions of celestial objects can be explained without putting Earth at rest in the center of the universe.
