Rep. Matheson speaks at Business Matters Luncheon - Sept 6th


Rep. Jim Matheson speaks next Tuesday to
Business Community at Multi-Chamber Luncheon

West Valley City, Utah – Rep. Jim Matheson will be speaking to members of five chambers of commerce in Salt Lake County at the Rocky Mountain Raceways Convention Center located at 6555 West 2100 South in West Valley City on Tuesday, September 6th at 11:45 a.m.  Some current issues likely to be discussed by Rep. Matheson include immigration, healthcare, the budget and the country’s economic outlook.  Rep. Matheson will also be awarded the ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The luncheon is being hosted by ChamberWest and includes members from these participating chambers of commerce; Magna, West Jordan, South Jordan and Southwest Valley including Riverton, Herriman and Bluffdale.

The cost of the luncheon is $20 per person for chamber members. Chamber members and others from the business community are welcome to attend.  RSVPs are required by calling 801-977-8755 or visiting ChamberWest’s online RSVP page at www.chamberwest.org/rsvp. No shows will be billed. The regular Business Before Lunch networking event for chamber members will begin at 11:00 a.m. also at the Rocky Mountain Raceways Convention Center.

Congressman Matheson serves on the House Energy & Commerce Committee, an exclusive committee with the broadest jurisdiction of any Congressional committee. The Energy and Commerce Committee deals with energy policy, consumer protection, food and drug safety, health care, air quality and environmental health, telecommunications and interstate and foreign commerce. 
Congressman Matheson is a sixth-generation Utahn who was born and reared in Salt Lake City.  Jim, his sister and his two brothers all attended Salt Lake City public schools.  He received his B.A. in government from Harvard University and his MBA from UCLA.  Before his election to Congress, he worked in the energy industry for 13 years for several local companies and in his own firm.  His wife, Amy, is a pediatrician and they have two sons.
ChamberWest is the regional chamber of commerce for the West Valley City, Taylorsville and Kearns area and is the largest independently funded chamber in Salt Lake County.  ChamberWest serves over 400 member businesses, small and large, with access to nearly 200,000 residents and 7,100 licensed businesses.  ChamberWest’s role is to strengthen the local economy, represent business interests, promote the community and take political action.  ChamberWest was organized in 1963.
