Business Matters 2010 Luncheon - 9/16

Join ChamberWest as we welcome Gary Harter with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. Gary is Managing Director for the Business Creation Team which includes the Utah Clusters Initiative, Centers of Excellence Program, Business Resource Centers and State Science Advisor.

Gary will speak on Utah's Business Resource Centers and how they can help local business as well as touching on other units within the Business Creation team.

Mr. Harter's Bio
Gary is a retired Army Colonel who spent 25 years on active duty, leaving service in October 2005. He served in command and staff positions throughout the United States and in Germany. Gary’s final assignment was as Commander, U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground, where, for three years, he oversaw the testing of chemical and biological defense equipment, led 1,500 military, Department of Defense civilians and contractors, and was responsible for an operating budget in excess of $220 million annually. Gary previously served at U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk, Virginia, where he was the Chief, Current Operations for Military Support to Civil Authorities, responsible for overseeing coordination and planning of military forces to respond for severe weather, wildfires, unexploded ordnance, the 2001 Presidential Inauguration, the 2002 Winter Olympics and National Special Security Events. As a Lieutenant Colonel, Gary commanded the 84th Chemical Battalion, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Gary is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and the National Defense University with a Masters of Science in National Resource Strategy.

Gary grew up in Pennsylvania, currently resides in Midway, Utah with his family, and is an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan.
